Taking on a classic.

For a theater company tackling a musical classic, the thousands of hours of practice were not going to fill the seats.  To bring the news of the show to patrons through print and digital promotions, a cohesive design strategy would mean building the brand.

Classic meets contemporary.

This classic show needed to retain its’ classic design elements to appeal to theater-buffs who already knew the production, but it was important to also give the design a contemporary theme to bring in a wider audience looking to expand their entertainment experiences through live musical theater.  So a totally new brand concept as created for the show, highlighting a traditional ‘sign-in-lights’ concept, layered with a contemporary abstract overall design palette.

Building an audience.

Promoting the production at scale while managing costs meant finding innovative new ways to reach the people most likely to be new patrons.  The strategy was to create personalized content for the actors in the show to be promoted to their own personal networks.  To achieve this, custom social ads were created with consistent show imagery, but featuring the individual actors along with interesting personal content in an easy ‘fast facts’ format.
